When this Amavasya falls in the month of Margashirsha, it is called Margashirsha Amavasya. Margashirsha Amavasya is on Tuesday, 12 December 2023.

According to Hindu belief, Margashirsha Amavasya is considered a very holy day on which worshiping on that day leads to the fulfillment of one's wishes and eternal results. On this day, Lord Vishnu is especially worshiped who is the sustainer of the universe.
