Navratri 2023: Day-Wise Rituals To Follow On 9 Days Of This Auspicious Festival
Navratri is a significant Hindu festival celebrated with great enthusiasm across India and the festival's name literally translates to 'nine nights', indicating the nine consecutive days on which it is observed. Goddess Durga or Shakti, in her different forms, is worshipped on these days. It celebrates the divine feminine energy and the triumph of good over evil.
The festival falls in the lunar month of Ashwin (usually in September or October) and this year it will be observed from 15 October to 24 October 2023. On the first day of Navratri, a Kalash (a sacred pot) is installed in the puja area, which is filled with water and adorned with mango leaves, coconut, and red cloth. It symbolizes the presence of Goddess Durga and the ritual is known as Ghata Sthapana.
