A 256-year-old Durga Bari/Bati in Varanasi, Mandanpura locality has something unique that is quite opposite to the tradition that is followed during Durga Puja. Establishing The Idol By A Bengali Family
This statue was installed by the Mukherjee family. When an attempt was made to lift the statue for immersion, it couldn't be lifted from its place. After this, help was taken from some other people but the Goddess couldn't be moved.

Then the Goddess herself appeared in the dream of the head of the Mukherjee family and said that she was very happy with his service and wanted to stay there. From then till today the Goddess is residing in the house of this Bengali family. Every year at the time of puja, people come here from far and wide to have darshan of Goddess Durga.
