It is recommended to limit your caffeine intake to no more than two cups of coffee per day or switch to decaffeinated options [1].

2. Spicy Foods
Spicy foods can cause digestive issues for some babies, leading to discomfort and fussiness. While you don't have to completely eliminate spices from your diet, consume them in moderation and pay attention to how your baby reacts to them.
3. Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while breastfeeding can harm your baby's development and affect their motor skills and cognitive abilities. Experts strongly advise avoiding alcohol altogether during this period.
However, if you do choose to have a drink due to any unavoidable commitments or just because you feel like it, make sure to pump and discard your breast milk for at least two hours per drink consumed to ensure it is alcohol-free [2].
4. Fish High in Mercury
Certain types of fish, such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish, can contain high levels of mercury, which can be harmful to your baby's developing nervous system. Opt for low-mercury fish like salmon, trout, and sardines, which provide essential omega-3 fatty acids.

5. Allergenic Foods
Babies can develop allergies to certain foods through breast milk, so it's important to be cautious with allergenic foods like peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, and eggs. If you have a family history of allergies, it might be best to avoid these foods during breastfeeding [3].
