Does Breastfeeding Lower Infection Risks
A new study claims that breast feeding and timely vaccinations could lower the chances of ear infections in infants.

In fact, breastfeeding can also reduce the risk of other infections like common cold in infants. Also, medically, vaccinations too help in cutting the risk of infections.

Infants who are below the age of 6 months who suffer ear infections may also have increased risk at a later age too. This study claims that the risk of ear infections can be reduced by about 40% with the help of breast feeding and vaccinations.

This study was conducted on more than 350 babies who are about a month old. Samples of mucus were collected for the study. Also, the family history was also studied.

Apart from various other factors like bacteria in the nose even lack of breast milk supply was also found as a reason that could increase the risk of suffering ear infections in infants.

So, researchers recommend breastfeeding to infants as it has many other benefits apart from minimising the risk of certain infections. Now, there is one more health reason to breast feed babies.
