Social Networking Sites Reveal One’s True Personality

Networking sites
Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter reveal one's true personality. It is surprising to know that though people use their profiles to promote an enhanced impression of themselves, most of them can not maintain their image and eventually start showing their true self.

The social networking profiles expose accurate personality of the profile owners, either because people don't try to look good or because they do try but fail to maintain their fake personalities.

Such networking sites are just another medium for engaging in genuine social interactions, much like the telephone.

To reach the conclusion, a survey was conducted where 236 profiles of college students from the United States and Germany were analysed. The researchers used questionnaires to assess the profile owners' true personality as well as their ideal personality traits.

The personality that was evident from each of their networking sites matched to their actual personality traits revealed by the questionnaire. The profiles were not affected by the profile owner"s ideal personality.
