He Was A Tamilian
His name is V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai and he is an Indian-American scientist born to a Tamil family in Bombay, India. He left India when he was just 7 years old. He began his work on the e-mail system for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey when he was just 14 years old!

He Was A Very Keen Observer
He minutely observed that each secretary in the University had a typewriter and in addition to it had an Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Carbon copy paper, Folders, Address book, Paper clips (this was used for attachments), etc... These were the things that they used every day to create and process incoming and outgoing mails.

He Developed A Virtual System
He created a computer program that had over 50,000 lines of code! These codes electronically replicated all the features of the interoffice mail system and hence he was successful in creating a virtual system.

He Was Officially Recognised By The US Government
On August 30, 1982, he was officially recognised as the inventor of electronic mail by the US government. He was also awarded the first US Copyright for his 1978 invention.

His Certificate Of Copyright Registration
Even though his name is nowhere in the modern history of computer science, he will remain the father of the e-mail system!
