Diwali 2025 Live Updates: India Dazzles Bright With Lights, Fireworks And Celebration!

Diwali is one of those moments in the year when everything feels a little brighter-our homes, our streets, even our mood. It's a time when families come together, sweets are shared, and lamps are lit to invite warmth and positivity into everyday life. But beyond the lights and celebrations, Diwali has a deeper meaning that connects us to tradition and history.

The festival marks the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. In many parts of India, it commemorates Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravana, when people lit diyas to welcome him home.

In other regions, it is celebrated as the day Goddess Lakshmi visits homes, bringing prosperity and fortune, or Lord Krishna's triumph over Narakasura, symbolising the defeat of negativity. At its heart, Diwali is about renewal, hope, and taking a moment to reflect and celebrate life with the people around us.

Best Direction to Face During Lakshmi Puja

For Diwali 2025, the most auspicious direction to face while performing Lakshmi Puja is north-east. It is believed that Maha Lakshmi enters homes from the north-east, and conducting the puja in this direction pleases her. Placing the altar and lighting diyas towards north-east enhances positive energy, attracts prosperity, and ensures the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi flow abundantly into your home.

    Diwali 2025: Lakshmi Puja Vidhi

On Diwali, performing Lakshmi Puja involves a blend of cleanliness, devotion, and ritual. Begin by thoroughly cleaning and decorating your home with rangoli, flowers, and diyas, and set up a clean altar facing east or north with idols or pictures of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Kuber. Take a ritual bath and wear clean clothes, and optionally observe a light fast. Light diyas and incense sticks, offer flowers, sweets, rice, jaggery, coconut, and coins to the deities, and chant the Ganesh Vandana and Lakshmi mantras. Complete the puja with aarti and prayers for prosperity, health, and happiness, and distribute prasad among family members and neighbours to share the blessings and joy.
