This year's Oscar nominated Natalie Portman is in news again, the actress says that her engagement ring is unique and special as it is eco-friendly. This year has been great for the actress as she is always on tabloid for the right reasons. Natalie Portman's engagement ring is specially designed by Benjamin Millepied with jeweler Jamie Wolf and includes recycled platinum, an antique stone and diamonds taken from a conflict-free mine, reported Life and Style magazine online.

The owner of Greenwich Jewelers in Tribeca, Jennifer Gandia stated that there has been an ongoing demand for these eco-friendly rings and that the customers are requesting for more and more recycled or reclaimed metals. She added that people would want those accessories which are harmless to the earth and the environment. Accordingly, there hasn't been much of price difference between recycled and non recycled jewels. The recycled diamonds are priced only 7% more than those from a more suspect mine.

Gandia said that not only Natalie Portman but many other visit her store for their family heirloon stone so that they can preserve the ring for generations.
"I thought that it was really cool for Natalie Portman to choose a ring like this," Gandia said. "She's vegan, she doesn't wear leather. It's wonderful to have a ring that symbolizes the things she stands for."
