Young Indian Designer Attempts A World Record
Twenty-seven-year-old Magesh Kumar, a student of textile designing in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, indulged in one of the world's lengthiest marathons in textile designing by creating textile designs on a computer for 61 hours. The marathon in textile designing' that began on January 26 at 6.01 a.m. saw Magesh design saris on the computer till 7 p.m. on January 28.
Mr. Magesh created designs based on the theme "Republic India". The young designer believes that his designs would help in generating a feeling of national integration amongst the youth of the country. He completed 30 drawings of national leaders, a drawing of the Indian map and 24 elephants in different positions, some with the calves, others single.
His last piece was that of the Akshardham temple in its total architectural glory. Once a design was completed, a print-out of the same was taken. The completed designs would be auctioned to designers and sari printers.
