Penelope Cruz Bags Gotham Independent Film Award

Penelope Cruz dazzled at the 18th annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York. She bagged Best Ensemble Performance prize for her role in Woody Allen movie 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'.

'Vicky Cristina Barcelona', which starred Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, and Javier Bardem, shared the award with 'Synecdoche, New York', which has a cast-list including Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener, reports the Daily Star.

Cruz was among four movie icons honoured at the ceremony, picking up a tribute prize, alongside other honourees Van Sant, Melvin Van Peebles and HBO boss .


The Spanish actress, looked like the epitome of elegance in a black Lanvin dress, long necklace and black satin heels.

Lance Hammer bagged Breakthrough Director for 'Ballast' while 'Trouble The Water' took Best Documentary.

Frozen River took the Best Feature awards, and its star Melissa Leo walked away with the Breakthrough Actor award.
