Oscar Fernandes Receives A Gold Medal
Jamshedpur, May 13 (UNI) Union Labour and Employment Minister Oscar Fernandes was today conferred the prestigious''Michael John Gold Medal''by the Michael John Centre for Research and Human Resource Development here.
Mr Fernandes was honoured for his contribution for the uplift of labour class.
Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman gave the award.
The award was introduced in 1985 and was being conferred to the eminent personalities for their contribution in their respective field.
The late J R D Tata was the first recipient of the award.
The Centre, a wing of Tata Worker's Union (TWU), was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1984.
TWU president Raghunath Pandey and his colleagues were also present during the occasion.
