Satish Kaushik, Aged 66, Dies Of A Heart Attack: Know Warning Signs Of Heart Attack In People Over 60
A heart attack struck actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik early Thursday morning. He was 66.
According to actor Anupam Kher, Kaushik's close friend, the demised actor was at a friend's home in Delhi when he complained of feeling uneasy. "He felt uneasy and he told the driver to take him to the hospital and on the way he suffered a heart attack around 1 am," Kher told PTI.

Most heart attacks are caused by coronary heart disease, a condition characterized by fatty plaques clogging the coronary arteries. As a result of the build-up of various substances, coronary arteries can narrow and develop coronary artery disease, the primary cause of heart attacks [1].
In general, a heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked, which causes the heart muscles to die due to a lack of blood supply. This usually occurs when a blood clot blocks the artery supplying the heart muscle.
What Causes A Heart Attack?
A heart attack occurs when a buildup of fat, cholesterol, and other substances creates plaque in the arteries, which blocks blood flow by forming clots when it breaks off. A heart attack is a serious medical emergency that requires immediate medical attention, also known as a myocardial infarction [2].
A heart attack is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases in men and women over the age of 45 and 55.
Take a look at the Warning Signs Of Heart Attack In People Over 60.
Warning Signs Of Heart Attack In People Over 60
Our hearts and blood vessels can be affected by the ageing process, according to the National Institute of Ageing. While our resting heart rate usually remains constant, our ability to beat as quickly as before during stress or physical activity changes [3].

The following are warning signs of a heart attack in people over 60:
1. Chest pain or discomfort
In people over 60, chest pain or discomfort is the first and most common sign of a heart attack. This experience is often described as tightness, pressure, squeezing, aching or burning pain.
The pain or discomfort in the chest is usually felt on the left side or centre of the chest and may be indicative of an imminent heart attack at any time during the day or some weeks later [4].
Women, especially, may experience pain in the lower abdomen or chest region. The pain may or may not radiate to the neck, jaw, or arm, or simply may be associated with numbness or tingling there.
2. Excessive fatigue
You may find that even the most simple tasks feel challenging and exhausting due to the excessive stress your heart is put under by pumping blood against an area of blocked blood flow [5].
3. Sweat/Cold sweat
The occurrence of unusual or excessive sweating, also known as cold sweats, is another common symptom of heart attacks among people over 60, especially when they are not physically active or very mildly active [6].
It is similar to fatigue when a heart attack occurs because the heart is required to exert significant effort to pump blood through clogged arteries. The extra effort used by the heart to pump blood causes sweat to be produced to keep the body's temperature down.

On A Final Note...
Many of the problems associated with the heart, such as heart disease or hardening of the arteries, resulting from disease processes rather than simply ageing. The importance of following heart-healthy behaviours, such as eating well, exercising regularly, and avoiding unhealthy foods, cannot be overstated.
