World Environment Day: Can Air Pollution Cause Lung Cancer
Today, in almost all major cities of the world, the air isn't healthy. It is filled with cancer-causing chemicals. Can air pollution cause lung cancer?
The World Environment Day is observed on 5th of June every year to raise awareness on various environmental issues. Global warming, air pollution and even wildlife extinction are some burning issues. The theme of this year is 'Connecting People to Nature'.
Today, in almost all major cities of the world, the air isn't healthy. It is filled with cancer-causing chemicals. A medical report revealed that around 2 million deaths occur every year on an average mainly due to polluted air.
Here are some more facts about air pollution.

Fact #1
Some reports also suggest that air pollution can also cause bladder cancer. Breathing polluted air is quite similar to passive smoking.
Even the risk of lung cancer drastically increases in people who are exposed to polluted air.

What's polluting the air? Transportation, industrial emissions, power plants and even residential gadgets are polluting the air today. This has resulted in increasing cases of heart and respiratory illnesses.

Researchers opine that pollution in some cites has reached alarming levels today. This is true especially in densely populated areas and highly industrialised cities.

Rat studies indicate the risk of lung tumours in mice that are exposed to pollutants. There are so many cancer causing substances out of which air pollutants are now recognised as the number one human carcinogens.
