Habits That Mess Up Your Metabolism
If you have a good metabolic rate then all the foods you eat are consumed well in your body to generate energy. A slow metabolism results in weight gain and obesity due to the slow breakdown of fats and carbs in the body. The fats are stored rather than being broken down and same is true with carbohydrates.
10 Foods To Break Down Body Fats
Metabolism is an important process in the body as it breaks down food so that the body gets benefit from it. Liver is the main organ of metabolism in the body. However metabolism is also controlled by thyroid hormones. People having under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) have slow metabolism and thus suffer from weight gain. There are some other habits that slow down metabolism.
Metabolism also slows down with the progressing age. It is also true that the rate of metabolism varies from person to person. This is the reason you wonder why some people are slim when they eat more as compared to people who are fat and eat less. The key is metabolism, if is the metabolic rate is fast then over eating will not make you fat.
Have a look at some habits that will ruin your metabolism.

You Don't Wash Fruits And Vegetables
To increase metabolic rate naturally wash your fruits and vegetables as they contain pesticides. These pesticides will interfere with your metabolic rate which results in gain weight. They can also cause body inflammation. Therefore, thoroughly wash your fruits and veggies after you buy them.

Not Eating Spicy Foods
Spicy foods will increase the rate of metabolism. Research has shown that, people who eat hot pepper and bell peppers have higher rate of metabolism and they eat less because they feel fuller after eating a spicy food. Chillies contain a substance called capsaicin which helps to burn fat at a faster rate.

Sitting For Long Hours
If you sit on a chair and work on computer for longer hours then this may disturb your metabolic rate. Since there is no movement of muscles, there will be less breakdown of fat and you will gain weight.

You Don't Wash Hands
It is a strange reason, but true. If you don't wash your hands before eating it can make your obese. Research has shown that there is a virus which attacks the respiratory track known as adenovirus. This virus converts body cells into fat cells and slows down metabolism.

Not Exercising
If you will exercise your muscle mass will increase and muscles burn more calories than any other body part. Muscles are more active than a fatty tissue of the body. So keep exercising to increase your metabolism. You can do push ups, weight lifting and cardio also.

Not Going For Thyroid Check
If your metabolic rate has abruptly decreased and you are experiencing weight gain, puffy face, skin and hair changes then you must go for a thyroid check. Chances are you might be having under active thyroid. The decreased levels of thyroid hormone will decrease your metabolic rate.
