Is Too Much Calcium Bad For You?
For long, we have heard that calcium is necessary for a healthy and growing body! You need to take in the necessary amounts of calcium in your daily diet so that your bones and body stay healthy. Calcium is especially important to children in their growing years and women who have reached their 30s. The reason is same, bone strengthening, but at different times and with differing needs.
Calcium should be had in the prescribed amounts. As a normal human being, we have differing calcium needs for our body. The nutrients that your body requires should be provided in required amounts only. Anything in excess can cause issues to your body, and you should necessarily avoid these problems.

Be it calcium, minerals or even vitamins, you should have them in amounts that you need! Talking about calcium, while it strengthens your bones when taken in required amounts, it makes your body totally weak and increases chronic disease risks when you have it more than necessary. How would you know if you are having calcium more than necessary? You may also risk problems like nausea, depression, vomiting and diarrhea when you have a lot more calcium than your body needs. Let’s see what all issues you may face if you have too much of calcium
Hyperthyroidism
The
parathyroid
glands
are
right
in
front
of
your
regular
thyroid
glands.
These
glands
are
responsible
for
controlling
the
amount
of
calcium
and
phosphorus
present
in
your
body.
When
parathyroid
hormone
is
released
by
these
glands,
this
simply
means
your
body
should
ideally
stop
absorbing
calcium.
When
there
is
too
much
of
calcium
in
your
body,
you
will
feel
that
this
hormone
is
released
in
larger
amounts
than
necessary
thus
giving
out
a
chronic
issue
named
hyperthyroidism.
This
is
one
of
the
side
effects
of
having
too
much
calcium.
Cardiovascular
Diseases
When
you
take
calcium
in
excess
amount,
it
begins
affecting
the
heart.
Prescribed
amounts
of
calcium
for
women
is
around
1400
mg
in
a
day.
If
the
women
exceed
this
amount,
they
may
suffer
from
various
problems.
Massive
heart
attacks
are
a
result
of
higher
intake
of
calcium
by
the
body.
The
higher
calcium
amount
releases
different
hormones
which
tend
to
affect
the
women’s
heart.
Nausea
and
Fatigue
Calcium
that
is
responsible
for
strong
bones
and
good
health
can
cause
issues
when
taken
in
heavy
amounts.
One
of
the
major
symptoms
of
levels
of
calcium
increasing
in
your
body
would
be
nausea
and
fatigue
experienced
by
you.
Calcium
in
higher
doses
can
cause
your
body
to
respond
in
a
vague
way
thus
making
you
feel
dizzy
and
cause
heavy
nausea.
Increase
in
Other
Minerals
When
calcium
absorption
by
the
body
reduces
owing
to
increase
in
amounts
of
calcium
and
other
nutrients,
you
will
see
that
your
body
faces
major
chronic
issues.
Some
of
them
can
be
taken
care
of,
but
if
the
absorption
keeps
reducing,
this
means
your
body
won’t
respond
to
certain
actions.
Low
blood
pressure
and
irregular
heartbeat
is
a
result
of
lowering
absorption.
You
would
feel
anxiety
if
body
calcium
levels
increase.
Kidney
Stone
Too
much
of
calcium
in
the
body
can
cause
kidney
stone.
This
can
heighten
if
not
treat
at
a
proper
time.
So,
you
will
need
to
take
immediate
action,
and
reduce
the
levels
of
calcium
in
your
body.
