1.
You
can
wrap
the
vegetables
in
paper
towel
and
store
in
plastic
bags.
This
is
best
to
store
leafy
vegetables
such
as
spinach,
lettuce
and
celery
in
refrigerator.
2. If you use plastic bags to store green vegetables, it is best to use bags which have few holes to allow air keep the vegetables fresh. Closed packets can spoil the vegetables.
3. To keep the leafy vegetables fresh and crisp in refrigerator, use a damp paper towel on the top of the vegetable and then store it. You can keep the vegetables in net bags but cover the outer leaves with paper towel. Don't use too wet paper towels.
4. You can also keep the vegetables fresh by using net plastic bags which allows air passage and also stores the freshness of the vegetable.
5. To store green leafy vegetables in refrigerator, prefer cutting the roots and then keep in bags. For eg, spinach and coriander leaves should be stored following this way.
6. Wash the root of vegetables, like carrots and radishes after buying and trim off inedible greens . Store in open containers of your fridge under warm air. This not only keeps the nutritional value of the vegetables but also keeps them crisp and fresh.
7. To keep cut vegetables fresh, cover the vegetable with a paper towel and store in an air-tight bag. Try to use the cut vegetables within 2 days.
8. Store carrots and coriander leaves in air tight containers. This keeps the vegetables fresh and crisp.
Don't store tomatoes, potatoes, onions and garlic in refrigerator. These vegetables stay fresh for longer if stored in open. Avoid storing the vegetables under heat or direct sunlight.
