A lot is being said about men and women equality. The result of the debate is that there is very less difference of the way a man and a women lead their life in the society. Apart from career point of view, women are fast taking up men specific habits like drinking and smoking. In India, though the society is still not used to with women smoking openly, the teen crowd is soon catching up with the trend. Several of them complain about the taboo on women smoking, believeing it to be a narrow outlook of the society but the fact is that smoking has a adverse effect on women's health.

Effect of smoking on women's health -

1.Menstruation – The first and the most dangerous effect of smoking on women's health is on their menstruation cycle. Studies have proved that teen smoking often results in abnormal bleeding, viginal infections, early menopause etc. The effect of toxic element of tobacco is significant lower levels of estrogen on the ovaries, which results in abnormal menstruation.

2.Osteoporosis – The most dangerous effect of smoking on women's health is the occurance of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is weakening of bone or reduction in bone density which make them frail and fragile. Women usuallt after menopuase face this problem, smoking further aggrviates and quicken the occurance of the disease.

3.Pregnancy problems – Though a women might leave smoking while she is pregnancy but if she is among those who was a regular smoker, she might face pregnancy problems. The chemicals which enter the body through tobacco pass to the fetus via the bloodstream, which puts the babies health at risk. It might also result in low baby weight, pre-mature birth etc. This is one of the most adverse effect of smoking on women's health.

Apart from these three major problmes other effects of smoking on women's health is early wrinkles, breast cancer, arthritis etc. Smoking is injurious to health for both men and women, the difference is that women get affected faster and it behaves as an added problem.
