Many a times we get dehydrated because of modern comforts like air conditioning and heating systems. These decrease the humidity in air. And we lose out on water. Also weather plays a major role in dehydration. Its important to drink lots of water when you are going to play, work and exercise in the heat. Being thirsty is not the only symptom of dehydration. Dark or foul-smelling urine, severe headaches and decreased concentration levels are all signs of dehydration.

Drinking diet soda actually contributes to dehydration. So when you drink a soda you should in turn drink atleast two glasses of water. Now many of us argue that water is tasteless so how can you drink so much of water? It's nice to keep a bottle of water on hand always. Other times you could have fruits and vegetables, which have high water content. Add lemon juice, lime slices and some peppermint to your water, it tastes good. Try making water taste different so that you actually crave for it.

So what do you do when you crave to eat something? When you pine to eat something, try drinking an entire glass of water and seeing if your hunger is still around afterwards. Do not gulp all of it down at once. Take a small sip slowly and let the fact that you have been hydrated register. If your craving has stopped after drinking water, then the pangs that you experienced were not hunger pangs. Many a times when we think we feel hungry, we are actually thirsty.

It won't help if you start drinking water continuously. Just keep all those bottles filled in your refrigerator. Help yourself throughout the day. Be consistent in drinking water.
