Summer Health Tips: Summer Fatigue And How To Avoid It
Fatigue is sort of synonymous with summer if you ask me. The hot summer weather is enough to exhaust your body at several levels, causing fatigue in the process. What causes fatigue in the summer? Well, the hot climate is enough to overwhelm your body at various levels.
As well as the heat, there are several other factors that contribute to fatigue during the summer months. These include pollution, and breathing toxic air, among others [1].

In the summer, drinking enough water, avoiding caffeinated beverages, and avoiding sun exposure will help in overcoming summer fatigue. During this hot season, having an exhausted body can be unbearable.
Exhaustion, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, headaches, and body pains are some of the symptoms associated with summer fatigue.

To ensure that your body is able to cope with the hot conditions, you should wear cotton clothing.
Cotton is a natural fibre that is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. It helps to wick away moisture, so it won't stick to your skin and make you feel even hotter. It also helps to keep you cool by allowing air to circulate around your body.

3. Stress levels
During summer, your body naturally has a lot on its plate and it is important to avoid stress as much as possible. Increased exposure to sunlight can improve mood and reduce stress levels, as it increases serotonin and endorphin production in the body.
Additionally, taking part in outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking and biking can help to reduce stress, as well as getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet [3].
4. Swimming pools
While swimming in the hot summers can be a relief from the heat, studies have revealed that chlorine in swimming pools may contribute to fatigue you experience after returning home. To prevent this, use creams that prevent chlorine absorption [4].
5. Indoor plants
As the surrounding atmosphere warms, plants release excess water from their leaves into the air, allowing them to cool themselves as well as the surrounding environment.
6. Stay indoors
You should avoid exposure to hot climates if you suffer from any ailments or chronic problems. Extreme weather can cause an increase in physical strain, which can worsen existing conditions [5].
Hot climates can also cause heat exhaustion and dehydration, which can be very dangerous for someone who is already ill.
