Dengue Treatment: Doctors Recommend These Fruits To Increase Blood Platelets
Doctors recommend a few fruits to increase blood platelets. Check here for the fruits.
Dengue fever is an acute febrile illness that lasts from 2 to 7 days. It is also known as break bone fever since it can be painful for the infected person due to the joints and muscle pain.
The symptoms for dengue are usually the abrupt onset of very high fever and headache.
The disease is diagnosed through blood tests and the low platelet count seen during this fever is known as thrombocytopenia. Usually low platelet occurs in 65 percent of people with dengue fever.

Dengue virus mostly feeds on the fluid in the blood which then increases the hemotocrit and tries to decrease the platelet count.

An elevated hematocrit level is critical as it can lead to internal haemorrhage. A very low platelet count along with high hematocrit level can be a catastrophe because blood clotting is complicated when there is severe blood loss.
The normal platelet count is approximately 150,000-450,000 micro litres, which is 150-450. On the other hand if it falls below 150 the risk can be grave or very severe if it falls below 30.
When a person suffers from periodic fever, skin rash or vomiting then the doctors suggest to do a test for platelet count.
Low platelet count can cause the risk of bleeding. There would be bleeding from nose, severe headaches, bleeding from the rectum, pain in the muscles and blood in stools. Some women do experience heavy menstrual flows.
Here are some of the fruits that can increase blood platelets that are recommended by doctors.

1. Pomegranate:
Pomegranate is rich in polyphenolic flavonoid, a fairly potent synergist with a wide range of antimicrobial activity. Having one glass of pomegranate juice with 2 tbsp of lemon juice can strengthen the immune system of the patients. This juice has to be consumed every 2 hours.
Pomegranate is rich in vitamin C. Fruits with vitamin C can help in combating infectious agents as well as boost immunity. It helps to increase the low platelet count.
Pomegranate and black grapes are said to have strong antioxidant content that can increase the platelet count. Even consuming one pomegranate as a fruit or juice is helpful to strengthen the immune system.
Consuming 300 ml juice after 2 hrs of lunch can increase the platelet level of a dengue patient. This will not only help the dengue patient to enhance blood count, but can keep him in the pink of health.

Consuming one kiwi fruit or a juice can instantaneously increase platelet count. Fresh fruits contain a lot of micronutrients like vitamins and these vital nutrients are indispensable to improve the platelet count.

The papain and chymopapain chemical found in papaya are believed to improve the platelet count when it goes low during the dengue fever. It also helps to regenerate platelets and white blood cells.
Drinking one glass of papaya juice every day for 4 consecutive days can give better results on your health especially if you want to arrest the dipping of platelets in dengue. Research has proven that the leaves of papaya are more effective in fighting against dengue fever.
