Tanning booths:
Tanning is never safe, no matter where you get it, whether on the beach or in the tanning booth. Teenagers are sensitive to the UVR (ultraviolet radiation) that are emitted from the tanning booths.

Cover up: Hats and clothes need to be worn when you are out in the sun. This is yet another way on how to prevent skin cancer. Sunglasses can be used to protect your eyes.

You need to get the appropriate lip gloss with an SPF of 30. Normal lipsticks do not count as sunblock. Remember to use them every few hours, especially after eating.

Clouds:
Though it is a cloudy day, there are still chances that you can get a sunburn. Studies have shown that about 80 percent of the sun rays penetrate through the clouds, mist and fog.

Sensitive skin care:
Keep babies away from the sun, they have delicate skin and hence, they are more prone to getting sun burnt. With older children, use a lot of sunscreen and clothing to help prevent the effect of the UV rays on their bodies.

Check Moles: You should have a monthly check up on your moles. If you see any discolouration, change in shape or size, consult the doctor immediately. This is one of the ways on how to prevent skin cancer.

Sores: Keep an eye on the sores. Make sure that they heal correctly. Also, care should be taken for skin areas that are reddish, bumpy, bleeding or itchy.
