'Walk n Talk': Not A Very Good 'Idea'

Using cellphones on road
Though walking is good for health, talking on a cellphone simultaneously is not a very good idea. It can make a person vulnerable to accidents.

Young and old pedestrians comprise with their road safety rules while talking on hands-free cell phones. Older people, especially those who are unsteady on their feet, should stay away from mobile phones on road as they are even more likely to succumb to traffic casualties.

Those who cross a road while either talking or listening to music take a longer time than normal. Those on the phone take about 25 per cent extra time than the others and they were also more likely to get run over.

Many assume that walking is so natural that nothing can get in their way. However, people forget that walking in an environment that have lots of obstacles is not as automatic as people think it to be.
