Flaunt your healthy self this Diwali by following these tips!
Popularly known as the "Festival Of Lights", Diwali is an Indian festival which is famous throughout the globe for its uniqueness and grandeur.
With the Diwali festival soon approaching, Indians across the world would be getting ready to involve themselves in the festivities and enjoy this time of the year as much as possible!
Diwali is a festival which is also celebrated in countries like Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, etc., by the Hindus.
This festival signifies the triumph of inner lights over spiritual darkness and hence, people decorate their homes and cities with a lot of lamps and lights!

Now, we are aware that during most major festivals people perform rituals, indulge in certain traditions related to the festivals, buy new clothes and ornaments, prepare delicious foods, visit relatives and friends, have get-togethers, etc., right?
Any festival, especially Diwali is a time for people to dress up, look great and socialise!
So, it is only natural for many of us to want to get in shape and remain healthy for the celebrations, so that we do not fall sick during the festivities and also to look nice in the festive attires that we are going to wear.
Just like how many people take certain measures to lose weight and get in shape before their weddings, the festive season too calls for such health measures.
So, here are a few tips that you can follow to remain healthy during Diwali; have a look.

Consume Leafy Greens
Consume a lot of leafy greens like spinach, kale, mint, etc., every day, until Diwali. Leafy greens contain a high amount of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, which can improve your immune system to prevent diseases, boost your metabolism to help you lose weight and also give your skin a healthy glow.

Drink Lots Of Water
Drink at least 2 litres of water per day. Water has many health benefits with quick results. It can also boost your metabolic rate for weight loss, keep your skin hydrated and soft and also prevent certain common digestive ailments.

Exercise Every Day
Ensure that you exercise at least for an hour every day. Even if there are just a few more days left for the festival, running, jogging, zumba, swimming, etc., can help reduce water weight and bloating, and make you feel much lighter. Exercise can also improve your immunity.

Eat Plenty Of Fruits & Vegetables
Add plenty of fruits and vegetables to your diet, as fruits and vegetables also contain a whole lot of antioxidants and other important nutrients which can help you lose weight quickly and also keep your immunity stronger.

Avoid Potatoes & Bananas
Avoid consuming vegetables like potatoes and fruits like bananas, because although these particular fruit and vegetable are nutritious, they are also high in fat content and may come in the way of you getting in shape with just a few days in your hands.

A Healthy Breakfast Is A Must
Try consuming an apple and a big glass of non-fat milk for breakfast. Doing this can keep you energised by not letting your body starve, as well as help you lose weight as you are consuming lesser calories.

Avoid Red Meat
If you are a meat eater, try consuming only lean meat like chicken and avoid red meat, as red meat can not only come in the way of your weight loss plan, but it can also reduce your immunity and could make you susceptible to diseases.

Have Plenty Of Protein
Add a lot of protein-rich ingredients to your diet, like lean chicken, channa, rajma, soy, tofu, etc., because protein can cut fat by burning fat cells faster. Protein-rich foods can also help build muscle tissues and give you a toned appearance by the time Diwali is here, especially if you are exercising too!

Flush Out Toxins
With less than a week left for Diwali, keep one whole day for a detox. Drinking just healthy fruit and vegetable juices and consuming light salads for an entire day will help flush out the toxins from your body and also help boost your metabolic rate.

Substituting Certain Foods With Healthier Ones
Substituting white rice with brown rice, white bread with whole-grain bread, soft drinks with sugarless fruit juices, can also help you to remain healthy during this time!
