Chicken diet, that must be a dream for chicken lovers. To eat your favourite food when you are on a diet for weight loss, what could be better! The point however is that every single diet comes with its high points and its clauses. This high protein diet too has its restrictions. You cannot eat crispy fried chicken on this diet if you intend to lose weight fast. The idea is to make chicken your staple food and build the diet for weight loss around it.

  • The basic is to keep the calories at the lowest. To achieve that you must eat chicken in the boiled form without fats or extra oil to cook it. You can have chicken broth with brown whole grains bread or brown rice if you please. There is no restriction on the number of helpings of chicken broth but the carbs are restricted to one or two portions.
  • A typical Chicken diet will begin with a really low fat breakfast that includes a few almonds, fruits, low fat cereals and a glass of skimmed milk. Your breakfast has to be wholesome but extremely low fat. Almonds are a must to give you energy through out the day without adding calories.
  • For the rest of the day you are expected to live on nothing but chicken soup. You can make the chicken soup more nutritious by adding fresh vegetables. There is no restriction on the number of helpings you take but you can eat nothing else.
  • The chicken soup in this diet for weight loss must be prepared fresh at home and not from the ready to eat packets that you get in stores; they contain cornflour and starch. If you are eating out do not have cream of chicken or sweet corn soup.
  • You can also have a diet of eggs with chicken. It will be an essentially high protein diet. You will be having 4 eggs per day with 2 chicken breast or leg pieces. 2 boiled eggs in the morning, grilled chicken for lunch and herb omelette with bread for dinner.
  • Please remember that many dieticians consider this to be a fad diet. This is because it contains much less calories than is normally required by the body of an adult human. If we need 200 calories per day, this diet gives us about 600.
  • Needless to say that weight loss is rapid but you will have to be prepared to starve your body. Moreover, it prescribes the eating of one kind of food again and again. This means too much of one nutrient group and little or none of the other.

You can use some good health tips to make chicken diet healthy (add vegetables, fruits and milk) otherwise the weight loss will be temporary.
