COVID-19: IMA Cites 3 Reasons Behind Recent Surge In Covid-19 Cases: What Are They?
Covid cases have increased in India, resulting in several states issuing guidelines and requiring the use of masks. The Union Health Ministry reported that on Sunday there were 5,357 new Coronavirus cases in India, while the number of active cases also increased to 32,814. The death toll in the country increased to 5,30,965 after 11 deaths were reported within the last 24 hours, according to the release [1].

3 Reasons Behind The Recent Surge In Covid-19 In India
It is estimated that there are 35,199 active cases in the country at the moment, with a daily positivity rate of 6.91 per cent, according to IMA data. In the last 24 hours, 3,481 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recovery cases to 4.41 crore.
As a precaution, several states have issued Covid guidelines and made masks mandatory again. According to the Indian Medical Association, there are three reasons for the recent surge in Covid-19 cases [2].
IMA Cites 3 Reasons Behind Recent Surge In Covid-19 Cases
According to the Indian Medical Association, the reasons behind the recent Covid surge are as follows [3]:
- The relaxation of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
- The low testing rate.
- The emergence of a new variant of coronavirus infection.

Reason 1: The relaxation of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour has enabled the virus to mutate, which in turn has caused a new variant of the virus to emerge. This new variant is more contagious than the original strain, making it more dangerous and difficult to contain.
Reason 2: The low testing rate of Covid-19 in India has resulted in the virus being able to spread more quickly, as it is not being identified and isolated as soon as possible. In addition, the new variant is able to spread even more quickly than the original strain due to its increased contagiousness. This has made it more difficult to contain, as it can spread rapidly through a population before it is identified [4].
Reason 3: The emergence of a new variant of Coronavirus infection has contributed towards the surge of COVID in India. The new variant has mutations that have made it more contagious, meaning that it can spread more quickly from person to person. This makes it difficult to contain without widespread testing and contact tracing [5].

On A Final Note...
India is currently facing a surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, with cases rising rapidly across the country. The government has called for stricter implementation of the guidelines and urged citizens to practice social distancing and maintain hygiene.
