Can't Swallow Pills? Here Are Some Tips To Manage It Easily
Swallowing pills can be a real challenge for some of us. Whether it's due to fear, a sensitive gag reflex, or simply not knowing how to do it, it's a common issue that can make taking medications a daunting task.
My elder sister, who is a doctor herself still needs motivation and gassing up every time she needs to take a tablet. Sooo, if you, a commoner have trouble swallowing pills, it's alright.

And fret not! In this article, we'll share some simple tips and tricks to help you conquer your fear of swallowing pills and pop that pill like it's nothing!
Can't Swallow Pills? Here Are Some Tips
1. Start with smaller pills: It's a good idea to begin with smaller pills. Ask your doctor if they can prescribe smaller tablets or capsules. These are easier to swallow and can help build your confidence.
2. Use a pill crusher: If you have trouble swallowing, consider crushing your pills into a powder and mixing them with a small amount of yoghurt or apple sauce. Always check with your doctor if this is safe for your specific medication.
3. Try pill coating: Some pharmacies offer a service where they can coat your pills with a gel to make them slide down your throat more easily. Ask your pharmacist if this option is available.

4. Tilt your head forward: When it is time to swallow that pill/tablet, tilt your head slightly forward instead of backwards. While it may sound counterintuitive, this can actually help the pill go down more smoothly.
5. Use a straw: Place the pill as far back on your tongue as you comfortably can, then take a sip of water through a straw. The water will help push the pill down your throat.
6. Practice with small candy: Use small candies like Gems or Tic Tacs to practice swallowing. This can help desensitize your gag reflex and build confidence.
7. Try different liquids: Some people find it easier to swallow pills with thicker liquids like smoothies or milkshakes. Experiment with different options to see what works best for you.

8. Cut pills into smaller pieces: If your medication allows it, you can cut pills into smaller pieces and swallow them one by one. Just be sure to follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage.
On A Final Note...
Also, anxiety can make swallowing pills more difficult. Take a few deep breaths and try to stay relaxed before attempting to swallow.
Moreover, if your struggle to swallow pills persists, don't hesitate to seek help from a speech therapist or a healthcare professional. They can provide tips and even exercises to improve your swallowing abilities.
