Where Is The Sanjivani Mountain That Hanuman Carried To Lanka During The Rama Ravana War?
Sanjivani is a magical herb with powers for curing any disease and also reviving the dead. It had powers to glow in the dark and bring anyone back from unconscious state back to normal. Sanjivani means bringing the dead to life.
It is called Selaginella Bryopteris which is a lithophyte with remarkable abilities for resurrection. Loaded with medicinal properties, it is known as Sanjivani that is life elixir. Due to lack of scientific evidence this plant is not an actively recommended product for medicinal uses.

Landing on the Sanjivani, and finding that he was unable to spot the right tree by himself, he resorted to carrying the entire mountain stretch on his shoulders and reach Sri Lanka.
On the way, a few portions of the Himalayas fell on the Sri Lankan soil and came to be called Sanjivani drops of which Dolukonda is one. This mountain was picked up from the Dronagiri hills in Himalayas and was carried straight to Sri Lanka, in Hiripitiya village, located about 20 KM north of Kurunegala district. Mount Dronagiri is 7,066 metres above the sea and one of the higest peaks in the Chamoli district of Himalayas in Uttarakhand.
The Dolukonda Mountain Range:
Dolukanda is a well-known mountain range that has a direct link, as per historical and mythical evidence, to the times of Ramayana. It is near the Dolukanda Raja Maha Viharaya or the Dolukanda Buddhist Temple. Located in Hiripitiya village near Kurunegala, this mountain with its rich herbal bounty is scattered in 5 different places of Sri lanka.
They are named found in Sri Lanka Kachchativu island in Jaffna, Northern province of Sri Lanka Thalladi close to Mannar, Ritigala between Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, Dolukanda near Arankale ancient monastery hospital, Rumassala in Unawatuna near Galle.
Dolukada Sanjivani mountain is one of those five Sanjivani drops in Sri Lanka. This is the most sought-after place in Sri Lanka where parts of the Himalaya fell here when it was carried by Hanuman to the battle scenario.
This place is widely visited by the devout visitors as it holds a magical attraction and it happens to be a most realistic remnant that reminds people very closely of their antecedents.
Due to the above historical occurrence, there are plenty of ayurvedic herbs growing in the Dolukonda region and hence it did inspire the Sri Lankans to build the Arankale forest monastery during a particular period.
It is really hard to trek this mountain and older citizens and people with kids cannot trek this area. You can visit it anytime but winter is best time given the scorching weather of Sri Lanka.
Ravana caves and Sanjivani mountains are fascinating places here to visit but you can only go up to the entrance and venture inside. They are highly risky places that are difficult to visit in normal circumstances.
