Lifestyle is not Life

Lifestyle is all about the quantity of things that you possess. Life is all about the quality of your consciousness. Lifestyle is related to the way in which you live, talk, dress, earn and spend your money. Life goes much deeper than lifestyle. We are engrossed in our lifestyle - working for our outwardly needs.

In schools, colleges and universities, we are taught how to achieve a better lifestyle but not how to achieve a better life. The quality of the consciousness is hardly increased or supported by education.

Many people tell me that whatever there was to achieve in the outer world they have achieved but what for they achieved, they don"t know.

Albert Einstein, when he was in his death bed was asked by his junior what he would like to be born as in his next birth. He replied that he would like to be born as a plumber. Einstein confessed that whatever there was to achieve in the outer world he had achieved but he had missed his life. In his younger days he had wanted to be a plumber. But somehow he got to be a scientist. He said, 'The greatest truth of the century was discovered by me but my life has become a lie!"

You can add life to your years in three ways: Live in the present moment, have more awareness about what happens in the outer world and be deeply conscious of the changes in the inner world. Allow your outer activities to happen from within a deep centering in you.

If your life is based on consciousness, then in the plane of sex, instead of fantasies you will have a deep intimacy with your spouse. At the level of fear, you will face fear without fear. At the level of worry, you will have clarity of thought. At the level of love, instead of seeking love, you will start radiating it yourself. At the level of self-esteem, you will know who you are and start flourishing in your own way. At the level of ego you will never focus on increasing what you possess. At the highest level, deep discontentment will give way to deep fulfillment.

Meditation is the key to penetrating your consciousness. It is time to start reclaiming your life - your very Being. Then, your lifestyle will be more than you can ever expect it to be.
