Jagannath Rath Yathra 2023: The Temples Inside Jagannath Mandir Which You Need To Know About
The huge temple complex of the temple of Puri Jagannath spreads over 10.7 acres. The temple is surrounded by two huge rectangular walls.
The outer wall is Meghanad Prachir and the inner wall is known as Kuruma Prachir. Each wall has four gates built in four different directions.

The area between the outer wall and inner wall is called "Bahara Bedha" and the area inside the inner wall is known as "Bhitara Bedha."
Apart from the main Jagannath temple, these outer and inner compound has a series of other temples, gardens, mandapas (pandals) and museums that are worthy of visit.
Devotees can come in through any gate, and assemble inside the compound in what ever pattern they want and get the darshan of the Chaturdha Murti and then return.
Devotees should first worship the aruna stambha and then enter the temple through the Lions gate, see the deities inside the the Gumuta of the Lions gate.
Then you can visit all the temples of the East Gate Bahara Bedha, and finally climb 22 steps and reach the Kurma Bedha.

Fate Hanuman
Hanuman stands as guard at the four gates in all four directions of the temple to protect Lord Jagannath. Fate Mahavir temple is at the Simhadwar or Lions gate.
Left side wall of the Entrance arch, you can spot a small idol of Hanuman. He is the protector of the Simhadwar.
Kashi Vishwanath
Kashi Vishwanath Temple is situated to the left of 22 steps. It is the west facing temple of Lord Shiva. Idols of Nava-grahas are mounted on the temple's door frame.
Nandi and Bhrungi are the door keepers. , Kartikeya and Ganesh are the Parswa Devatas. The temple top has a small Trishula mounted on it. In front of the temple, on a small pillar black coloured Brishava is mounted.
It is customary to have a darshan of Lord Kashi Vishwanath and worship Him before proceeding on to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath.
Patitapabana
On the right-side corner of the entrance arch, the east-facing Patitababana is mounted on the wall inside a small temple. 'Patita' means sinner and 'Pabana' means the cleanser,.
Since only Hindus can enter the temple, rest of others can stand newar the Aruna Stambha to take a glimpse of Patitapabana.
Abhaya Narashimha
Adjoining to Ramachandra temple, there is another small temple dedicated to Lord Narashimha along with Abhaya Narashimha and Sidha Vinayaka. The devotees should climb the 22 steps to reach the inner enclosure now.

Baisi Pahacha
These 22 steps is known as 'Baisi Pahacha'. Here devotees pay homage to their forefathers. Parents roll their children on 22 steps in anticipation of their long life.
