The Adjustment Stage - In this third stage of marriage a couple's preoccupation with each other and their newly united relationship begins to wind down. This stage comes with you adjusting in a particular situation whether you like it or not.

The Rebellion Stage - This is one of those stages in a marriage which is dreadful. In this stage you begin to act like a warrior with your partner and everything seems to end up in a fight. The Escape Stage - This stage of marriage is seen after the first four years into the relationship. A lot of power struggles may erupt as both the individuals claim their turf and draw their lines of defense. In this stage of marriage, husbands and wives begin to realise they married someone with as many vices as virtues, and each one reverts to re-inventing themselves in new ways that may only partially include the spouse.
