According to University of Denver research, there is a solution to have a successful live - in relationship. It says that If you can get engaged to your partner, before deciding to live with him, it can hold your relationship for life long. The reason behind this phenomena could be the sense of social commitment and reputation.
Although orthodox folks find this trend of live - in relationship weird, the folks who are in live – in relationship find it as the best way to know a person before planning to move ahead with him or her.
This study brought out that if a couple decide to stay together without getting engaged, then the chances of breaking – up with each other is twice as compared to engaged break – ups.
Although it is true that a live – in relationship can let you know your would – be better, the chances of give and take or forgive and forget is very less, compared to a committed live – in relationship.
“Cohabiting without first being engaged was associated with a higher likelihood of divorce. Those who cohabited prior to engagement reported, on average, lower levels of positive attributes about their marriages, more negative interactions and more proclivity toward divorce," researchers said.
The study proved that while comparing the divorce rates of those who were engaged before getting into a relationship was 45 percent less in context with those who moved in before engagement.
Dr Lisa Matthewman, chartered psychologist at the University of Westminster, said that an engagement before the relationship can let you have a strong foundation by talking out your differences and finding solutions for those.
As the saying goes, 'Think twice before you leap," rather regretting your actions later, make a better life together.
