Things Every Son Needs From His Father

A father-son relationship is very special. Just like a father and daughter relationship, a father son relationship is way too beautiful. A father is often a role model for his son. A boy looks up to his father for everything. The way he talks, the way he dresses, the way he behaves with others and tries to incorporate the same. This is a natural tendency among kids.

Raising a son can be a tricky job sometimes for the father, especially if he is the single parent. A mother definitely has an important role to play in the upbringing of children but a father plays a crucial role in a son's life. A father's absence in a child's life can have devastating effects. Sometimes, there are certain misunderstandings between father and son which often lead to a huge communication gap between the two.

Things Every Son Needs From His Father

So, how do you handle this sensitive relationship? You need to know what exactly your son wants from you. Try to understand your son's needs. Here are a few things that every son needs from his father.

You are loved: Every boy needs to know that his father loves him. Don't keep your feelings to yourself. Let your son know how much you love him. Spend time with him. Take him on a trip somewhere or just spend a day playing cricket. It makes a lot of difference to the kids.

I am proud of you: Not many father do this. Every human being likes to be praised. Kids, especially need that pat on the back and when that pat is from the father, it makes a huge difference. So, if your son has achieved something, even if he has just won a elocution contest, just tell him that he has made you proud.

You are gifted but you are not flawless: Don't jump over him if he committs a mistake. Tell him slowly that every human has faults. He is no exception. Love him and encourage him to rectify his mistake. He is just waiting for you to show that gesture. So, support him instead of rebuking.

Hard work is a gift: You need to make him understand that hard work is good. But don't give it to him as a punishment. He will give you his best only if you understand his abilities and hone them in the right direction. That is what a dad is all about!

So, remember that the key to the relationship with your son is communication. Communicate your emotions, feelings, fears to him and he will always be by your side to comfort you in difficult times.
