If you are anaemic and pregnant, here are some of the foods you should avoid during pregnancy. Take a look:

Coffee
No doubt coffee is not good for you to consume during pregnancy, but there are some women who drink a small amount of it. Coffee should be avoided at any cost as it absorbs the iron in your body which is risky for women when pregnant.

Tea
Tea is a safer option for you to have when compared to coffee. But, make sure that you consume tea along with milk and not black tea.

Green Tea
There are many who say that green tea is very good for health, as it helps to keep your immunity levels up. However, pregnant women should avoid green tea as it is not good for the foetus.

Tofu
Some may argue that soy is rich in iron, but non-fermented soy should be avoided for pregnant women as it contains phytic acid which decreases iron in the blood.

Spinach
Oxalic acid which is present in spinach is not good as it absorbs all the iron in the body of a pregnant woman. It is true that it is rich in iron but it never helps in providing enough iron for the foetus.

Legumes
During pregnancy, you need to avoid legumes as much as possible. Legumes contain phytates which decreases iron in the body.

Sugar
Pregnant women who are anaemic should avoid foods which have a high amount of sugar in it. The sugar present in foods will decrease the iron levels in the body, and this can cause defects in pregnancy.

Brown Rice
The best food to avoid for pregnant women who are anaemic is brown rice. You should consume white rice as it is rich in starch and is a healthy food for the foetus.

Soft Drinks
The coloured fizzy water which quenches your undying thirst should be avoided during pregnancy. Soft drinks have an acid which decreases iron in the body.
