Severe cold, dense fog, and isolated rainfall continue to affect schools in several parts of India, leading to ongoing school holidays on 11 January 2026. Authorities in multiple states have maintained closures or extended winter breaks to ensure student safety, particularly during early morning hours when visibility is low and temperatures are at their lowest.

In Delhi, all government, aided, and private schools remain closed, with classes set to resume on 16 January 2026. Similarly, Punjab schools are observing holidays today, with reopening planned for 14 January, while Haryana continues its extended winter break until 16 January 2026.

Telangana is also seeing ongoing school holidays as part of extended Sankranti celebrations, with students returning on 17 January. In contrast, districts like Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Jaipur and Jalore in Rajasthan, conclude their school holidays today, with classes resuming from 12 January 2026.

Other regions, including parts of Tripura, Jharkhand, Lucknow, Varanasi, and selected areas of Tamil Nadu, have reopened schools today, following a few days of weather-related closures. Education departments continue to advise parents to monitor local notifications, as authorities prioritize safety amid the ongoing cold wave, fog, and patchy rainfall.

With temperatures remaining low across northern and central India, students and parents are encouraged to dress warmly and plan travel carefully. Officials emphasize that further adjustments to school holidays may be announced if extreme weather persists, but current schedules aim to balance student safety with resumption of education.
