We had quite a few bad apples in the ripe field at the recent Cannes Film Festival, 2012. The pressure of dressing for an award show, that too, a prestigious one like Cannes 2012, can cloud your fashion judgment. Which is why, we got to see fashion disasters from some unexpected celebs this year. This celebrities who are normally so well dressed made critical mistakes in the zeal to do 'something different'. Lets check out the worst dressed celebs at the Cannes, 2012.

Sonam Kapoor: She the first celebrity on this list because we are particularly disappointed with our native fashionista. In the light of last year's stunning presence on the Cannes red carpet, this year was a show down. The vintage black gown of Sonam's didn't impress her fans. When compared to her first appearance in 2011, Sonam Kapoor's Cannes look this year was dark, unnecessarily lacy and totally extravagant.

Freida Pinto: She has been in the fashion front list ever since her debut in Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionnaire. However, this year she fails to impress with her imitation of Angelina Jolie's right leg stunt. The thigh slit gown with a pink flesh tone by Micheal Angel would have been stunning. But, the fluffy hanging around the waistmakes the outfit look comical.

Cheryl Cole: Some love and some detest it, but no one can ignore it! Cheryl Cole's appearance in Cannes 2012 was striking even if it was not in the best taste. The flowing feathered gown comes from French designer Stephane Rolland's wardrobe. Unfortunately, we simply cannot reconcile our humble fashion sense to the shocking tail of red feathers that came trailing behind the chic scooped back white dress.

Mallika Sherawat: She is known for making bold fashion statements, so we simply do not understand why she choose a hooded witch's dress for Cannes red carpet this year. This full sleeved hood gown designed by Ali Madhavi covered every inch of her torso except her face. Is this a desperate attempt to prove that she can look good without showing off her skin?

Elena Lenina: This gorgeous Russian actress mistook Cannes 2012 for a theme party. Her mauve silk outfit (we dare not call it a dress) could have been the show stopper of a fancy dress competition. But fortunately, this was the prestigious film festival. Do we even want to know who designed this monstrosity?
