It is just about making lifestyle changes but we are resistant to changes in our jam packed schedules. Here is the you chance to get rid of those bad habits for ever.
How
To
Give
Up
Bad
Habits
For
Lent?
1.
Why
Lent?
This
not
a
new
year
resolution
that
can
be
discarded
after
a
month
as
your
habits
defeat
you.
Lent
is
a
40
days
period
and
thus
the
definite
number
makes
it
an
achievable
target.
All
you
have
to
do
it
keep
off
those
habits
for
40
days
and
when
you
say
that
to
your
yourself,
things
are
a
lot
more
relaxed.
2. What Are You Giving Up This Lent: Lent fasting has an advantage; it not a fixed fast. In the sense it does not dictate exactly what you should abstain from other than non vegetarian food. When it is your penance then you choose the price you will pay. This allows the devout to choose their most annoying bad habits to give up. Smoking for example is a good place to start.
3. Want To Lose Weight: No, we are not suggesting that Lent fasting is a time to diet and get back in shape. It is much deeper and spiritual than such frivolous things. But think carefully, what makes you put on weight? It is you undeniable cravings. If you want to repent to the Lord then repent by breaking your habit of indulging in your favourite junk and you will automatically lose weight. You can say or example that you will be totally off fast food for Lent. It will also be a test of your self control.
4. Best Things To Give Up: Now most of us have so many bad habits that we do not know where to begin. Its easy, start from the habit that is causing maximum damage to your body like alcohol. People give up baked items, sugar, salt etc which is useful for diabetics or hypertension patients.
5. Sabbath Day: The good news for you is that there are 6 Sundays in the 40 days of Lent and the faithful of Christ are not supposed to fast on Sunday or Sabbath day. So it is not like you are going to be on a no candy diet for 40 days straight. These rules can be relaxed on weekends that should an incentive for which you should strive harder to make those lifestyle changes.
Lent is the best and holiest time to give up bad habits and start fresh.
