Ways To Stop Sugar Cravings During The Festive Season
Festivals and sweets always go hand-in-hand but unfortunately sweets are not part of a healthy diet. There is surely no harm in having a little once in a while but during festivals it may become difficult to draw the line. Reason could be courtesy or temptation. When it comes to temptation a strong mind is required to stop sugar cravings during festivals. With sweets turning up everywhere how does one turn away?
Matters become worse in case of sugar cravings in diabetics. Thankfully there are sugar-free sweets now available in the market that can be opted for but again, too much cannot be consumed. What is essentially needed here is to stop sugar cravings.

Having a sweet tooth is an individual attribute. While some love sweets some will not be able to stand the taste. For many it is the type of sweet that matters. While some may like our Indian sweets there are others who would not. Instead they would prefer going for sugary items like chocolates, cookies and cakes. In fact many people also present an argument in favor of chocolates and cookies. Sadly at the end of the day be it Indian sweet meat or a chocolate, sweet is sweet and too much of it is always unhealthy.
Stop sugar cravings during festivals
Festival time is sweet time but it is important to stop sugar cravings during festivals. Going by a little here and a little there in no time the quantity goes beyond the limits. It not only does bad to your waistline but also the digestive system. So, how to control sugar cravings? Try some of these methods and they may be helpful.
• Full meals on time: Never ever skip a meal, especially breakfast. Skipping meals means starving yourself and when hungry you tend to reach out for sweet and sugary stuff. During festivals the house is full of sweets and in such times it is very easy to reach out to one when hungry. Having proper meals will keep you full and stop cravings.
• Store away: Out of sight, out of mind. This goes for sweets as well. Make sure to store sweets away from vision range. They can be kept in opaque containers or in the cabinets. The idea is to keep them out of sight so that you do not grab one at the first instance. Sugar cravings in diabetics can also be kept under control by removing sweets from ones sight.
• Protein-rich diet: It has often been noticed that having a protein-rich diet helps keep sugar cravings within control. You can add a protein powder to your milkshake or smoothie, have eggs, meats, beans and other protein-rich foods to stop sugar cravings during festivals and also otherwise.
• Chew on gum: If you have gum in your mouth you will surely not want to put anything else in your mouth. There are sugar-free gums also available to keep away from the guilt of chewing gum with sugar.
• Stay occupied: When busy you often tend to miss out on hunger pangs. In fact, when inactive one is more likely to end up nibbling stuff on a regular basis. If you tend to get sugar cravings go out for a walk, involve yourself in some activity, play a game or do anything else to turn your brains away from sugars.
• Give-in: Completely abstaining from sweets would not be a good idea. It is always ok to have a little sweet once in a while. This does not add an extra tire on the belly nor does it shoot sugar levels. In fact diabetics can also have the regular sweets occasionally to satisfy the taste buds. But make sure to stay within limits.
Diabetic or not too much of sugar is not good. Enjoy the festive season with your favorite sweets but make sure to control the intake. It is only you who can control your own sugar cravings and enjoy the festivals to the fullest.
