'Trikon' means triangle in Sanskrit. This yoga asana is so named because while practising it, your body forms a perfect triangle.

Steps To Do Trikonasana:

Triangle Pose
  1. Stand straight with your feet at least 3 to 4 feet apart. Look at the alignment of your feet. Your left toes and right toes should be aligned in a straight line.
  2. Now turn your left toe at a perpendicular to keep it straight.
  3. Bend to your right and touch the floor with your palm. You must place your arm behind your outstretched leg.
  4. Initially you may not be able to touch the ground with your palm. Try touching the ground with your finger tips first.
  5. Raise your left arm at 90 degrees. You should lift your arm in such a way that it forms a straight line with your right arm touching the ground.
