Aloo Paneer Kofta Curry For Navratri
Since the Navratri season is on, most people are on a vegetarian diet for nine days. Some people even abstain from eating onions and garlic during this time. So, keeping this in mind today we have a grand vegetarian trea for you, which surprisingly is made without onions and garlic.
Aloo paneer kofta curry is a delicious vegetarian recipe which is a must try during this Navratri. The soft and mushy koftas are stuffed with dry fruits and then cooked in a spicy gravy. The taste of the dish is difficult to describe in words.

Ingredients
For The Koftas
- Paneer- 200 gms (grated)
- Potatoes- 3 (medium sized, boiled)
- Almond powder- 1 ½ tbsp
- Black pepper powder- ½ tsp
- Chaat masala- 1tsp
- Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (finely chopped)
- Cornflour- 2tbsp
- Mixed dry fruits- 4tbsp (chopped)
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- for deep frying
For The Curry
- Cumin seeds- 1tbsp
- Bay leaf- 1
- Ginger paste- 1tsp
- Tomato puree- 1tbsp
- Almond powder- 2tbsp
- Cumin powder- 1tbsp
- Chaat masala- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
- Fennel powder- ¼ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (finely chopped)
- Oil- 2tbsp
Procedure
For
Koftas
1.
Except
the
dry
fruits
and
oil,
mix
all
the
ingredients
together
in
a
mixing
bowl.
2.
Mash
the
boiled
potatoes
properly
so
that
no
lump
remains.
3.
Make
medium
sized
balls
out
of
the
mixture
and
flatten
it
slightly
between
your
palms.
4.
Place
one
teaspoon
of
the
mixed
dry
fruits
at
the
centre.
5.
Fold
the
edges
towards
the
centre
and
cover
the
dry
fruits
completely.
6.
Seal
the
koftas
properly
from
all
sides
so
that
the
dry
fruits
do
not
come
out
while
frying.
7.
Heat
the
oil
for
deep
frying.
8.
Make
all
the
koftas
in
the
same
way
and
place
them
in
hot
oil
carefully.
9.
Fry
the
koftas
on
medium
flame
for
about
3-4
minutes
till
they
turn
golden
brown
from
all
the
sides.
10.
Once
they
are
ready,
transfer
the
koftas
to
a
plate
and
keep
them
aside.
For Curry
1.
Heat
oil
in
a
pan
and
add
cumin
seeds,
bay
leaf.
Fry
for
a
minute.
2.
Then
one
by
one
add
ginger
paste,
turmeric
powder,
red
chilli
powder,
cumin
powder,
chaat
masala,
black
pepper
powder,
fennel
powder,
garam
masala
powder
and
fry
for
3-4
minutes
on
medium
flame.
3.
Then
add
the
tomato
puree
and
cook
for
another
3-4
minutes.
4.
Add
the
almond
powder,
salt
and
saute
for
2-3
minutes.
5.
Now
add
a
little
water
and
the
place
the
koftas
in
the
gravy.
6.
Stir
carefully
and
allow
the
gravy
to
boil.
7.
Once
the
gravy
comes
to
boil,
switch
off
the
flame
and
garnish
the
curry
with
chopped
coriander
leaves.
Aloo paneer kofta curry is ready to be served. This curry is a perfect combination with rice as well as rotis.
