Ramzan Recipe: Shahi Chicken Korma
As the holy month of Ramzan is on progress, we are introducing you to some of the most delectable dishes which can be consumed at Iftar. To add to the list today we have a special chicken recipe from the royal kitchens of the Nizam. The shahi chicken korma is one of a kind chicken recipe which you can prepare for everyone at home.
Chicken korma is a dish which is prepared in almost all Muslim households during this time of Ramzan. To add to the taste we have the royal version of the chicken recipe which is sure to make your Iftar meal all the more appealing to your taste-buds. This delicious ramzan recipe is a little on the richer side as we are using cashew nuts and almonds in the preparation. But once you taste this mouthwatering chicken recipe we are sure you will not miss out on the taste of it.

Ingredients
- Chicken- 1kg
- Yogurt- 2 cups
- Ginger-garlic paste- 2tbsp
- Red chilli powder- 2tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Garam masala powder- 2tsp
- Lemon juice- 4tbsp
- Cinnamon stick- 1
- Cloves- 2
- Green cardamoms- 2
- Black peppercorns- 4
- Saffron- a pinch
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 4tbsp
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (chopped, for garnish)
- Mint leaves- 1tbsp (finely chopped, for garnish)
For Masala Paste
- Onions- 2 (chopped)
- Almonds- 10
- Cashew nuts- 10
- Khus khus (poppy seeds)- 2tbsp
- Dessicated coconut- 2tbsp
Procedure
1.
Wash
the
chicken
properly
with
water
and
keep
it
aside.
2.
In
a
pan,
dry
roast
the
onions,
almonds,
cashew
nuts,
khus
khus
and
coconut
together
in
a
pan
till
they
golden
in
colour.
3.
After
that
switch
off
the
flame
and
let
the
mixture
cool
down.
4.
Grind
the
mixture
with
a
little
water
into
a
smooth
paste.
5.
Marinate
the
chicken
pieces
with
lemon
juice,
yogurt,
ginger-garlic
paste,
red
chilli
powder,
turmeric
powder,
green
chillies,
the
prepared
masala
paste,
salt,
garam
masala
powder
and
saffron.
6.
Cover
the
bowl
with
a
foil
and
refrigerate
for
30
minutes.
7.
After
that,
heat
oil
in
a
pan
and
add
cinnamon
stick,
cloves,
green
cardamoms,
black
peppercorns
and
stir
for
a
minute.
8.
Now
add
the
marinated
chicken
and
cook
for
15-20
minutes
on
medium
flame.
9.
Add
half
a
cup
of
water.
Cover
and
cook
the
chicken
on
low
flame
till
it
is
completely
cooked.
10.
Once
done,
switch
off
the
flame
and
garnish
with
chopped
coriander
and
mint
leaves.
