Amidst all the western style and trends, Indian fashion have always made it's presence felt and appreciated. Indian fashion always holds on to it's roots and that is what makes it different. It has it's own on and off trends and one such trend is the use of brocade. Brocade was a great hit during the 1950's and stayed on till the 70s but then got lost with the need of variety. Well, history repeats itself and this time the trend of brocade is getting repeated though in a more modern light.

Brocade in a laymans language is a silk based fabric with gaudy design of gold zari work. Sounds elaborate and heavy? Well, not anymore with the fashion desingers manipulating it in their best possible wears. At present brocade is in trend and have crossed all boundaries and are now worn as skirts as well. In 2011, the Chinese fashion trend also included brocade as a new design for the kimono.

How To Wear The Borcade Trend?

Brocade trend still belongs to the gaudy wear but the trick lies on how one mix and matches it to form an elegant wear. Thus, one of the tip to wear the bocade trend is to match it with a more light colours. Often white cotton or other light collor cotton sarees are being teamed with brocade blouse to get the brightness to the wear.

Yet another way to elegant trend of brocade is to match it up with net sarees. Net sareers are in trend and have a very light look. To add on to the weight and make it a party wear, the folds are made of brocade slik. This makes it a party wear at the same time maintaing the modern look of a net saree trend.

Now, there is someting called the brocade work on cotton. This is more prevalent in men jackets and on saaree borders. A plain colour saree border desinged with brocade work makes it a regular elegant wear. Men jackets dressed with brocade work on sleeves makes the men bridal wear trend.

Three favourite colour of brocade design are red, green and purple.
