Birth mark is a patch of slight discoloration that almost everybody has. Some are tiny and naturally concealed due to their location while others are large and on the easily visible parts of the body. • If you have a whitish mark or a pigmentation of a tone lighter than your skin then use a shade that is slightly darker than your skin tone to patch it up. If the birth mark is dark then you have to use a lighter shade.

• Foundation is a lengthier process of doing the same thing that a concealer will do. Yet it is recommended because of the variety of shades available in it. Also it does the job better when it comes to hiding huge marks.

• While using foundation it is important to use both powder and liquid. The liquid base makeup is applied first. After you have chosen the exact shade you need to conceal your mark, mix it with water or body lotion depending on weather it is oil based or water based. After that, dust the compact powder on the damp spot to even it out.

• If your mark is of a brownish or yellowish shade that almost matches your complexion then you can do an interesting piece of cover up makeup to conceal it. Shower some gold dust on it. You can also use bronze or copper dust depending on the exact colour of pigmentation.

• The idea is to give a shimmer to your skin that will camouflage the mark. Use a big round makeup brush to get a even shine. Be it your shoulder or knee or your cleavage, you can now shine through with your birth mark without any worries.

• If you have really uncommon birth mark color or shape then you can use it to your advantage. Suppose you have a red color mark or one that resembles a star. It will be very difficult to camouflage a red or green mark with foundation. It is much easier to use a water proof lip or eye liner on it and make it look like a tattoo!
