Body Polishing For Glowing Skin!

Body Polish
Body polish has become a standard component of bridal packages these days but still very few know what it actually comprises. It is an exfoliating body scrub along with a massage that relaxes your skin. It is, in other words, the equivalent of a facial but for the body. So the procedure too is similar to facials however it has its own peculiarities when it comes to dealing with the entire body instead of just facial skin.

Here are the exact steps of a body polishing session at any standard spa or salon. Some signature packages may add some steps or ingredients but the skeletal structure remains the same.

How Is Body Polishing Done?

  • First of all it will be done in a separate cubicle and not in the main salon as facials are done. You will have to undress for this procedure or put on clothes provided by the parlour. Usually there will be an attached washroom or shower facility with this cubicle.
  • The application of the exfoliating body scrub is usually preceded by a body pack which relaxes the skin and opens up pores. It is usually a mud pack or a seaweed pack depending on the salon or your preference.
  • You could also go for a sauna bath before the session starts. It helps your skin breathe and also opens up the pores of the skin so that the nutrients of this therapy get absorbed into the skin.
  • Many kind of ingredients can be used for body polishing. The salt body scrub is very popular and effective. It makes use of sea salt as an exfoliating body scrub to remove dead cells and give body skin a youthful glow.
  • There are also other ingredients like chocolate, coffee, fruit extracts, etc that are used over and above the salt body scrub. The choice of ingredients depends on your skin's requirements and also the cost of the treatment. You can ask for a customised scrub to be made for you.
  • This is usually followed by a session of massage with aromatic oils and creams that will moisturise the skin. You need to keep at this for about ten minutes and then wash it off.
  • It is better to bathe without soap or liquid gels so that all the beneficial oils and nutrients don't get washed off from your body. It might be a better option to wipe the scrub with hot damp towels instead of standing under the shower.
  • On the whole, this should make you feel energised and make the skin feel pampered. It is a great way to get rid of depression and feel good. However, if you feel that any of the ingredients are allergic to your skin or too abrasive then ask the beautician to stop then and there.

Body polish may not be a part of your daily skin care tips but it can definitely be done once in a while.
