Britain Heralds Pollution Hazards

If you thought that India has the maximum pollution then read this. The level of air pollution in UK has gone so high that it is shortening people"s lives by up to nine years, as reported by the House of Commons' Environmental Audit Committee.

The study of pollutants have revealed Nitrogen oxides, ozone and particles of sulphate, carbon and dust as the major reasons for the distress.

Britain is violating the EU"s regulations and could be asked to pay heavy penalties amounting to nearly 300 million pounds.

The culprit which raised life risks was Vehicular pollution. Reports conclude that only a radical shift in transport policy can help the UK meet the EU norms.

This shift is not easy. As a scientist has pointed out, "such a shift is unlikely to occur in the next 10 years, unless the government starts taking sustainable transport seriously."

Britain has serious problem ahead and rise in the mortality rate, would not only effect the population but also the economy etc. Britain is heralding the serious effects of pollution.
