Watch World Cup in all camera angles
New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Cricket lovers will be able to choose the camera angles from which they want to see their heroes in action in the coming World Cup.
They will also have the option of listening to commentary in a language of their choice and extracting player statistics and ball trajectory at the press of a button.
Besides, highlights will be available on demand. And a few chosen ones can enjoy all this in the company of film star Hrithik Roshan.
All these innovative features besides attractive concession are on offer from broadcasters, DTH providers and cable operators who are leaving no stone unturned to rope in subscribers in a bid to cup in maximum revenues out of the event beginning March 13 in West Indies.
''We are making all efforts to see that viewers get a feel of the stadium atmosphere in their drawing rooms,'' said a spokesperson of DTH opeartor TataSky.
Tata Sky has announced a special promotional offer across the country under which subscribers who purchase its services by April 15 will get three months of free subscription on up to four televisions at their homes.
In addition, 50 subscribers with their families will get a chance to watch the ICC Cricket World Cup Final with superstar Hrithik Roshan, on 28 th April, in Mumbai.
An equally enticing offer had come from TATA SKY's senior rival Dishtv. It has come out with a special world cup promotional pack at Rs. 3990, all inclusive with six months subscription absolutely free.
''When Indian cricket team takes the world for its stride, Dishtv will revive the unique active services that enable a better than 'stadium experience' for the viewer in the comfort of their homes,'' Dishtv CEO Arun Kapur said.
Not only will the Dishtv viewer enjoy the world cup cricket matches in digital picture quality and stereophonic sound, they will also have access to unique controls in their hand with the Dishtv remote, while watching the live matches,'' he said.
Just at the click of a button, subscribers can watch the match through three different camera angles--the main feed, the square leg and the third which will be a mix of stump cam/high wide shot, he said.
Tata Sky has offerred this facility through Actve TM Sports.
Highlights are also available on-demand, at any time during the match.
Sony is also ready with some new plans to attract more viewers with multi-angle coverage.
However, Sony Entertainment Television (SET) India CEO Kunal Dasgupta told UNI that only DTH operators will be provided the value added feed as the CAS technology was not compatible with interactive TV.
He said SET India expected an all time high viewership for the World Cup as the number of TV sets in the country have doubled since the last event and moreover, the matches schedule coincides with prime viewing time in India.
Besides DTH services, demand for Set Top Boxes(STBs) in CAS areas of the four metros has also gone up.
''We are coping with a sudden surge in the demand for STBs because of the World Cup and are having a hard time to fulfill it,'' Mr Viky Malhotra of the Multi-Service Operator Citicable told UNI.
He said the Citicable was going to offer some concessional packages to its subscribers soon.
As the event starts and progresses, we expect the demand to go higher, he added.
