Taste The Beer For A Living!

Helen Moores has undoubtedly the job people all over the world would kill for – TESCO"s chief lager taster.

Helen has tasted more than a thousand lagers since she started the job two years ago, and has visited more than 30 countries to seek out exotic brews.

“I certainly do enjoy my work – even though I sometimes have to start tasting lagers at 9.30 in the morning. The secret with the early morning tastings is to make sure you haven"t had too much the night before," The Sun quoted her, as saying.

“Wine tasters swill the liquid round their mouths and then spit it out. But with beer you only get the full flavour if you take a good swig and swallow it.

“Sometimes I sample more than 20 beers in a session – so I have to watch it," she added.

Helen, whose official Tesco title is Chief Buyer, World and Speciality Beers, has travelled as far as South Africa, Kenya and Australia, researching her role.

The 28-year-old, based at Tesco HQ in Cheshunt, Herts, said that she also gets to take her work home so she can continue her “research" with accountant boyfriend Jonathan Greenfield, 31.

“He is very jealous of my job," she said.
