Berhampur, Orissa, Mar 16 (UNI) Carrying his on his shoulders for the last eleven years is no mean feat, but his blind love for his 'blind' helped him to take her on a pilgrimage to Puri.

35-year-old Kailash Giri Brahmachari, popularly known as "modern Sravan Kumar", who has been carrying his visually impaired for last eleven years, has entered this silk city on way to Puri dham.

A resident of Bargi village in Madhya Pradesh, Kailash has been carrying his 81-year-old Kirti Devi, weighing about 60 kgs, on his shoulders in a makeshift swing by foot on "Chardham Yatra".

His first halt was at Jagannath temple's Gosaninuagaon and Courtpeta here since Tuesday last and he left for Puri with his yesyerday.

Kailash's mission started eleven years ago when he was 24 to fulfill the wishes of his to have a darshan of all the " Char Dham"(the four holy places in India).

" When I was only 5, my father died. My expressed her desire to visit Char Dham but then I had no money. I heard of Sravan Kumar and opted for the makeshift swing comprising with bamboo shaft", Kailash said.

He said he started his journey from Hanuman temple in Ujjain and traversed through Kasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakut, Allahabad, Rameswar, Chennai and Tirupati covering a distance of about four to nine kilo meters a day.

The makeshift swing of Kailash was weighing nearly 120-kg along with and he was never seen tired of the loads. He cooks food for both of them during night halts.

Both the and son take one meal a day and fruits with "Kheer" during night with the donation from the generous people.

They have already visited Rameswaram and plans to visit Badrinath and Dwarika after Puri Dham.

''God has entrusted me to carry my on my shoulder. It is an uphill task and I pray to God not to give such burden to anybody", Kailash said. Even with the burden of carrying his for the last eleven years, Kailash is willing to marry a lady, who could voluntarily nourish his blind and support him in his endeavour.
