A highlight of the festival will be interface sessions between the representatives of some of the films being screened and the audience and the media. Different media organizations in the city will be conducting open fora at the Green House every afternoon on various subjects of contemporary interest. These sessions will be attended by invited representatives and leading lights of Kannada Cinema.
Veteran film journalist P.G. Sreenivasa Murthy and veteran photographer D.C. Nagesh are putting together a photo exhibition of Dr. Raj Kumar and stills from landmark Kannada films.
The festival will be held in three leading theatres in the heart of the city, Tribhuvan, Kailash and Movieland. Kannada films will be exclusively screened at Kailash. Movieland has a distinct history behind it-it was earlier a hall exclusively devoted to the staging of plays and was called Shivananda Theatre. It was here that the doyen of Kannada theatre and one of the founding fathers of Kannada cinema, Gubbi Veeranna, had staged all his classical plays which have remained green in the memory of theatre lovers in Karnataka. It was also this theatre that the T Chowdiah- produced "Vaani" was premiered in 1944. It is the oldest extant Kannada film which also features in the Kannada section of the current festival.
All the three festival theatres have been recently renovated and modernized with excellent projection and sound facilities.
