Tips For Kids To Keep Their Study Table Clean
Remember the days when you were repeatedly asked by your mom to clean up your study table? And that table would never be cleaned. It used to seem to be such a magnanimous task. It was so easy to just go on piling up stuff and not bothering to clean. What is surprising is that in all that mess you would still be able to find your stuff.
But times have changed and you are now a parent and the sight of a messy study table does bother you. Besides, a messy table is not a healthy environment to study.

Try being a little different from your mom and tell your child how to keep study table clean and tidy. Try giving your child a hand and showing him or her how to go about it. Cleaning study table along with your child will give your child the feeling of togetherness. It will also help you get an insight into your child’s life.
So how does your child go about it? Help him or her take an organised approach. Have your child think and work along the following points.

Sort out stuff: First and foremost, make a list. This list will comprise all the stuff you have. Next, make a list of the things you want for your study purpose. Believe it or not, there would be many things that are there which you will never be using again. They were simply put there and forgotten.
Identify the most wanted: Now, you know all the stuff you have and have sorted out the ones you need. From this list, identify the items that you will need the most. There are many items that are frequently required, stationery items such as pens, erasers, pencils and notebooks. These most wanted items need to be available upfront. So, they need to be placed on the table. The rest can go inside drawers and cupboards.

Categorise: You are sure to have a number of items of all kinds. Categorise them into categories such as writing, colouring, craft, notebooks, unused notebooks, textbooks, school books, home books, adhesives and maps. Doing so will help you know what you have and what is available to you when the need be.
Rearrange: Before you start arranging, you need to clean the table. Empty out the entire table and give it a good wipe. When clean and sparkling, start arranging things as per you requirement. What side of the table would you prefer to have the stationery bins? On which side would you like to have more space to write? Where do you school books and notebooks go?

Get a soft board: One easy way on how to keep study table clean is to get a soft board. There are many papers and notices that you may be receiving from school. To have them lying around on the table gives a very cluttered look. Instead, pinning them up to the soft board leaves the table clean and the notices easy to read.
Get boxes: For organising, it is best to get boxes for similar articles. For example, all adhesives can be in one place. The colouring items can go in one box. Likewise, all the other items can be placed.
No toys: Do not keep toys on your study table. This is a place you will be studying. For studies, you need to be in a calm and settled mood. Having toys around you will only lead to distraction and eventually a half-hearted work.
Clean once a week: Cleaning study table once does not mean it has been done for life. In order to keep it clean and tidy at all times, it is important to clean it every week or sooner if you feel so. It will not only help you get rid of dirt and dust, but it will also help you keep better track of your things.
